Together We Can End Gun Violence

As a result of collaborative efforts between law enforcement and community-based organizations, violent crime is down throughout Maryland. But, we can do more – together. The U.S. Attorney's Office’s Project Safe Neighborhoods program balances prevention, intervention, strategic law enforcement, and community engagement to end gun violence and keep communities safe. The program brings together law enforcement, community organizations, and private citizens to relentlessly support and intervene in young people’s lives to make a difference. 

We believe that we can end gun violence, but we know that we cannot do it alone. The U.S. Attorney's Office is proud to partner with organizations working to end gun violence across Maryland like Roca, the Baltimore Police Department, Black Mental Health Alliance, Living Classrooms, and others. The U.S. Attorney’s Office leverages its Project Safe Neighborhoods program to reduce violence. We are committed to strategic enforcement of the criminal laws to hold accountable those repeat violent offenders and criminal organizations driving the most violence in our communities. Roca is a 35-year-old, internationally recognized community violence intervention agency operating in Baltimore. Roca relentlessly engages the young people most likely to shoot or be shot and teach them behavioral health skills that save lives. Roca’s four-year Intervention Model features relentless outreach to young people; a portable and relatable version of cognitive behavioral theory to address trauma; and, opportunities to practice skills through trauma-informed employment, education, and life skills programming.
