U.S. Attorney Recognizes National Reentry Month
This week, United States Attorney Roger Handberg joined multiple MDFL partners during the Tampa Bay Reentry Roundtable Summit at Pasco-Hernando State College (West Campus). More than 100 people attended the in-person event, with another 60 stakeholders participating online. The group, comprised of federal, state, and local government agencies, law enforcement, ex-offenders, volunteers, as well as numerous service and faith-based organizations, discussed the unique challenges, opportunities, and pathways for formerly incarcerated persons as they prepare for a successful transition back into their communities.
The USAO-MDFL has been a leading partner in reentry efforts by regularly convening and facilitating summits, organizing stakeholders, and empowering local/regional coalitions with federal resources. In addition, AUSAs and Reentry and Outreach Coordinators continue to support the District’s Intensive Reentry Program by actively participating in the district’s three federal reentry courts (Tampa/Orlando/Jacksonville) on a monthly basis.
