Consolidation at a time of rapid growth This figure shows the number of US wireless subscribers in millions by year from 1985, when the number of subscribers was nearly zero, to 2006, when the number of subscribers was in excess of 225 million. The graph indicates that the number of wireless subscribers increased from over 175 million in 2004, when the Sprint/Nextel and Cingular/AT&T mergers occurred, by some 50 million subscribers in two years. |
