Dallas Area Red Ribbon Events

The Dallas Field Division will distribute over 66,000 red ribbons to communities and schools in North Texas and Oklahoma.

October 10th – Metrocrest Red Ribbon Kick-Off Breakfast

The Metrocrest Red Ribbon Kick-Off Breakfast is the official beginning of our Red Ribbon Month here in Dallas, TX. Over 300 participants attended the breakfast this year. Dignitaries attending the event included Mayors from the surrounding cities, city councilmen, school board members, fire chiefs, and police chiefs from the cities of Farmers Branch, Carrollton, and Coppell. The remainder of the participants were school children from the various school districts in the area. Special Agent in Charge James L. Capra was the keynote speaker at the event.

October 18th – The Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Red Ribbon Rally

The Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Red Ribbon Rally was held on Thursday, October 18, at 12:30 p.m. at the State Capitol in Austin, Texas. As part of this year’s celebration, we invited 1200 5th and 6th grade student leaders from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin to participate in an anti-drug rally and a “mock” anti-drug legislative policymaking session. From Dallas alone, 175 students traveled to Austin to attend this year’s annual event. Arrangements include a roundtrip bus ride from Dallas to Austin, Texas; a tour of the State Capitol; staging the passing of an anti-drug bill on the legislative floor of the Capitol; and speakers who will address how the legislative process works. Participants enjoyed a full day of festivities and celebrity guests.
