Working
with States

Special
Agent Keith Warzecha, the Demand Reduction Coordinator for the Arkansas
District Office, provided Governor Mike Huckabee and his immediate
staff with a briefing on drug trends in Arkansas. |
DEA Demand Reduction coordinators
are active on the state level across the nation, working with Governors’ offices and state agencies
to reduce the demand for drugs. States receiving federal prevention grants
must include DEA Demand Reduction coordinators on Governors’ Prevention
Councils. DRCs provide information and drug law enforcement input on
drug activity and trends to states to ensure that prevention programs
address the most significant drug problems.
Currently, DEA Demand
Reduction Coordinators are working with states and territories which
have received federal prevention grants from SAMHSA.
In many states, Demand Reduction coordinators partner with state agencies
to address major drug abuse problems such as methamphetamine, heroin, prescription
drugs and marijuana.
Special
Agent Doug Collier addresses the New Jersey Partnership for a
Drug Free
New Jersey, a state anti-drug alliance that uses the media to
educate
the
public about the dangers of drug abuse.
