friendly page] EMERGING DRUG TRENDS IN THE DALLAS COMMUNITY On Tuesday, September 10, 2002, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Dallas Field Division (DFD), in cooperation with the Texas Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and the Twelfth-Step Ministry of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church will host an important drug awareness and education conference entitled What's Hot in Dallas. This conference is designed to raise awareness about the developing drug trends in the Dallas community. It will educate and inform those people who work with youth, families, as well as those in the law enforcement field. It will also provide an overview of the use and abuse of mind-altering substances and designer drugs. Most importantly, it will bring together law enforcement, drug education/prevention professionals and medical personnel, to discuss important drug awareness issues.Drug education coordinators, probation/parole offices, counselors, teachers, nurses, PTA officials, medical personnel, social workers, youth serving agencies, drug free businesses and law enforcement personnel are all invited to attend this important community awareness presentation. Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. at the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. Along with speakers from the DEA, the Texas Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition will provide a speaker to discuss Youth in the Correctional System. The Texas Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition is comprised of more than 20 different federal and local government entities, treatment facilities, and education and youth-service agencies whose nine-year history of collaboration provides the community with important annual events including the Red Ribbon Rally and the Inhalant Conference. |
