Release DEA Dallas Participates in Student Aide Program The DEA Dallas Field Division (DFD) is proud to announce that the first student aide reported for work at the DFD on November 4, 2002 under the Student Aide Program. This program is open to eligible high school seniors and college level students at either the undergraduate or graduate level who would like to work at a DEA field office while continuing their education. College students who participate in this program are expected to attend college full time (normally 12 hours or more) during the Fall & Spring semesters and work 20 hours per week for DEA. High school students must go to school for part of their day and can work approximately 20 hours per week at DEA. Recently, the DFD was allotted seven Student Aide positions. The DEA office in Oklahoma City will receive two of the positions, one position will be located in Tyler, Texas with the remaining four positions in the Dallas DEA office. Two of the aide positions in Dallas will be occupied with college students working on their undergraduate degrees, one position will be filled by a high school senior, and the final position by a college student working on their graduate degree. The Student Aides are paid at the GS-2, 3, or 4 level depending on what year they are in college and high school seniors are paid at the GS-2 level. The Student Aides will be working with the support sections for DEA where they will assist in administrative matters and community outreach programs. |
