14th Annual Rick Finley Memorial Picnic

picnic photoOn September 7, 2002, the Detroit Field Division held the 14th Annual Rick Finley Memorial Picnic to benefit the DEA Survivor's Benefit Fund. This year's activities included an inflatable obstacle course, clowns, helicopters, pony rides and a raffle for the 130 children that attended.

The picnic is an annual event for both active and retired DEA employees and police officers and is attended by folks from throughout the Midwest. Rick and several U.S. State Department contract employees were killed in a tragic airplane crash in Peru in support of Operation Snowcap in 1989. Since that time, the picnic has been held at the Ford Motor Company Athletic Complex in Dearborn, Michigan.

The picnic also serves as an opportunity to remember all those that lost their lives in law enforcement in the Detroit area during the past year and make sure that they are "never to be forgotten."

This year's picnic featured an auction consisting of professional and college sports items and event tickets. The event raised $5300 for the DEA Survivor's Benefit Fund.
