Announces Major Drug Enforcement Operation The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky announced the take-down of a major drug trafficking group operated by former Mt. Vernon, Kentucky Police Officer Larry Thompson Sr. The announcement culminates a joint drug enforcement investigation with numerous federal, state and local law enforcement agencies throughout Central Kentucky. The investigation lasted 15 months and exposed cocaine and marijuana trafficking from Texas to Kentucky. Thompson and six others are facing federal drug trafficking charges. "This investigation exemplifies the substantial impact law enforcement can have on drug trafficking when resources and talent are combined for a specific objective", stated Special Agent in Charge Michael A. Braun of the DEA Detroit Field Division, which oversees Kentucky. As part of this operation, approximately sixty (60) law enforcement officers were involved in the arrests and the execution of nine federal search warrants. The individuals charged in connection with this investigation include: Larry THOMPSON Sr. (48 yoa, Brodhead, KY), Bobby Durham (54 yoa, Stanford, KY), Nathaniel POPE (20 yoa, Stanford, KY), Raul ROMO (32 yoa, Stanford, KY), George MOORE (47 yoa, Stanford, KY), Darleen MOORE (37 yoa, Stanford, KY), Josh MCCLURE (20 yoa, Stanford, KY) and Salvador REYES aka "Julio" (30 yoa, Brodhead, KY).
