Red Ribbon Celebration Kickoffs in Detroit
SAC
Michael A. Braun began the celebration of Red Ribbon Week for the Detroit
Field Division with an all-hands ceremony in Detroit, Michigan. All of
the employees of the field office were in attendance as SAC Braun reminded
everyone of Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena and the sacrifice
he made for his country. Many of the employees assisted the Demand Reduction
Coordinator, Special Agent Rich Isaacson, in giving various Red Ribbon
programs to their children's schools and church groups.
On October 21, 2002,
another Red Ribbon celebration kicked off in Columbus, Ohio with Ohio's
Governor Bob Taft (R) and First Lady Mrs. Hope Taft. The ceremony was
emceed by Ms. Patricia Harmon, Executive Director of Ohio Parents for
Drug Free Youth and was attended by over three hundred high school students
from across Ohio. Also in attendance was Director Luceille Fleming, Ohio
Department of Alcohol and Drug Addition Services; Mr. Charles Curie, Administrator
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration; and Deputy
Superintendent Dr. Roger Nehls Ohio Department of Education. As part of
the ceremonies awards were given in recognition to outstanding contributions
to the community by various law enforcement agencies and other governmental
agencies. Recipients were: Major General Paul J. Sullivan, Ohio National
Guard; Lt. Colonel Mike Finamore, Ohio Department of Public Safety/Ohio
State Highway Patrol; Chief Richard L. Mayer, Ohio Association of Chiefs
of Police; Major Greg Berquist, Buckeye State Sheriff's Association; Fire
Chief Ned Pettus Columbus Division of Fire Fighters Against Drugs and
Frank Magoch, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Detroit Field Division.
