Rocky Mount Man Sentenced To 214 Months In Prison

APR 15 -- (Raleigh, NC) - United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that in federal court United States District Judge Terrence W. Boyle sentenced DEMETRIUS HARRISON, 31, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to 168 months’ imprisonment and 5 years supervised release.

On December 10, 2007, HARRISON pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base and distribution of more than five grams of crack cocaine.

On November 9, 2006, officers of the Rocky Mount Police Department supervised a controlled buy of crack cocaine from HARRISON at a barber shop located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina where HARRISON sold 4.1 grams for $120.

HARRISON was also sentenced to 46 months in prison to run consecutive to the 168-month prison term for a probation revocation that arose out of the conspiracy and possession charges, for a total of 214 months’ imprisonment.

Mr. Holding noted: “I am pleased to compliment the hard work of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Rocky Mount Police Department. This type of joint effort is essential if we are to effectively combat drug trafficking in our communities.” Investigation of the case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Rocky Mount Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Ethan Ontjes served as prosecutor for the government.
