Norwalk Man Faces Federal Meth Production Charges

June W. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration in New England and Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that a federal grand jury in New Haven has returned a three-count Indictment charging MICHAEL LONGO, age 60 (DOB 6/28/1946), of 5 Coventry Place, Norwalk, Connecticut, with three offenses relating to the illegal production of methamphetamine.  The Indictment, which was returned yesterday, charges LONGO with possessing chemicals with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine, distributing such chemicals knowing that they would be used to manufacture methamphetamine, and attempting to manufacture methamphetamine.

LONGO was arrested on July 18 after a Drug Enforcement Administration-led investigation revealed that LONGO had procured various ingredients and equipment required for the manufacture of methamphetamine.

If convicted, LONGO faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years and fine of up to $1,000,000 on each of the three counts. 

U.S. Attorney O’Connor stressed that an indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt.  The defendant is entitled to a fair trial at which it is the Government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

This matter was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Norwalk Police Department.
