Meriden Man Sentenced to 10 Years in
Federal Prison for Dealing Crack Cocaine

NOV 6 -- June W. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration in New England and Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that EDUARDO MEDINA COLON, 35, of New Hanover Street, Meriden, Connecticut, was sentenced yesterday, November 5, by Senior United States District Judge Peter C. Dorsey in New Haven to 120 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for distributing 50 grams or more of cocaine base (“crack cocaine”). COLON, who is the former president of the Latin Social Club, pleaded guilty to the charge on June 19, 2007.

On October 4, 2006, a federal grand jury returned an Indictment charging COLON and several other individuals with various narcotics offenses involving the distribution of cocaine and crack cocaine in central Connecticut. The charge against COLON stems from two different controlled purchases of multi-ounce quantities of crack cocaine in June 2006, both of which occurred inside the Latin Social Club. In total, COLON distributed almost 150 grams of crack cocaine.

COLON was arrested by the federal authorities on October 6, 2006 and has been detained in federal custody since that date.

This investigation was a collaborative effort of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Meriden Police Department and the Waterbury Police Departments.
