East Hartford Man Sentenced To 12 Years In Federal Prison For Dealing Crack

NOV 16 -- June W. Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration in New England and Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that TOREY WOODING, 30, of Glenn Road, East Hartford, Connecticut, was sentenced yesterday, November 15, by Senior United States District Alfred V. Covello in Hartford to 144 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release. On August 23, 2007, WOODING pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine base (“crack cocaine”). According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on March 28, 2006, DEA Task Force members arrested WOODING in the area of Chandler Street in Hartford after a search of WOODING’s car revealed a ziplock bag containing 236 grams of crack cocaine. As part of his guilty plea, WOODING agreed to forfeit two 9mm handguns that were recovered from his residence following his March 2006 arrest. This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hartford Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brian P. Leaming. Project Safe Neighborhoods is a Department of Justice program aimed at reducing gun violence, deterring illegal possession, sale and trafficking of guns, and improving the safety of residents throughout Connecticut. Participants in the initiative include community members and organizations as well as federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
