DEA Task Force Trims 'Weed' From Rockford Home
Seizes 377 Pounds of Marijuana

MAY 8 -- (Rockford, IL) – Special Agent in Charge of the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Chicago Field Division, Gary G. Olenkiewicz, announced that on Thursday, May 3, 2007, the Rockford Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force, seized 377 pounds of marijuana from inside a residence, located at 1122 Sunset Avenue, Rockford, Illinois.

The marijuana was packaged in 322 packages, most already broken down to one pound increments and ready for street level distribution. The value of the marijuana is approximately $226,200.00 when sold in one pound increments and $855,000.00 when distributed to the street user in one gram quantities.

DEA Agents arrested two persons in connection with the 377 pound marijuana seizure. The names of the defendants have not been released, due to the continuing investigation.

“This investigation is another example of successful drug enforcement teamwork,” stated Gary G. Olenkiewicz, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Field Division Drug Enforcement Administration which covers the Rockford area. “We are committed to keeping illegal drug trafficking and its’ harmful side effects out of our communities.”

The DEA Task Force was implemented in Spring of 2003 and is comprised of the DEA Agents and Task Force Officers from the Belvidere Police Department, Boone County Sheriff’s Department, Dekalb Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

The DEA Task Force investigates large scale drug trafficking organizations having a regional, national and international impact. The DEA Task Force encourages persons with information of large scale drug traffickers to call the Rockford DEA Office at (815) 987-4494.
