Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison
Highway Stop Led to Seizure of 13 Kilos of Cocaine

JAN 25 – MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – United States Attorney Sheldon J. Sperling announced today that ISAIAS ZUNIGA DEARCOS, age 47, of Oxnard, California, was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment and 60 months supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a Special Assessment of $100.00.

“DEARCOS pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine and Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine Base (Crack Cocaine) in July 2006,” recalled U.S. Attorney Sperling.

“The charges were the result of an investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The offenses took place in McIntosh County in February 2006, when the defendant was stopped by OHP for speeding on U.S. Interstate 40 near mile marker 274 and for not visibly displaying a registration plate. Upon a search of the vehicle, OHP troopers found DEARCOS was in possession with the intent to distribute 13 kilos of Cocaine and 42.9 grams of Cocaine Base (crack cocaine), both Schedule II Controlled Substances.”

“The Honorable James H. Payne, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over today’s sentencing. Assistant United States Attorney Dean Burris represented the government.”
