DEA Dallas Field Division to Take Part in the
North Texas Crime Commission "SCAM JAM" Event

 MAY 7 -- (Dallas, TX) Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s Dallas Field Division, Mr. James L. Capra, will speak at the Texas Crime Commission “SCAM JAM” event scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2007.

The North Texas Crime Commission and more than 20 law enforcement and government agencies have organized a “SCAM JAM” event to educate the community about criminal activity and crime prevention. Internet crimes, identity theft, Social Security number misuse, Medicare/Medicaid fraud, and internet RX fraud are some of the topics which will be covered.

Keynote Speaker: U. S. Congressman Pete Sessions

When: Saturday, June 2, 2007
           8:30 a.m. – Doors Open
           12:30 p.m. – Keynote Speaker and Other Law Enforcement Officials
           9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – 15 educational 20-minute sessions

Cost: The event is FREE to the public!

Background:
As the fastest growing crime in America, Identity Theft ruins millions of citizen’s financial security every year. SCAM JAM will help attendees by offering presentations, information booths, entertainment, and prizes at no cost. Area law enforcement agencies, consumer groups and industry associations will provide the public with vital information on protecting themselves from fraud and how to avoid becoming a victim. Topics include:

  • Identity Theft
  • Telemarketing Fraud
  • Tax Scams
  • Internet Pharmacy Fraud
  • Medicare Fraud
  • Investment Fraud

Over fifty years ago, the founders of the North Texas Crime Commission (NTCC) created a volunteer-driven organization with high standards for civic consciousness and a devotion to a safer community. The NTCC links the community together in the fight against crime and continues to support law enforcement in the North Texas area.
