Dallas Field Division Demand Reduction Program
The Demand Reduction
Program was created in 1986 in response to the realization that a comprehensive
attack against the drug problem must
include efforts to reduce the demand for illegal drugs, a natural outgrowth
of DEA’s overall law enforcement mission. There are four major
objectives included in the Demand Reduction Program. The major objectives
are 1) Working with Community Leaders 2) Working with Parents 3) Working
with Children and 4) Working with Employers.
In support of the objectives of the Demand Reduction Program,
the Dallas Field Division will plan two large conferences in FY2005.
These conferences will
be designed to raise awareness about the developing drug trends in local
communities. They will educate and inform those people who work with
youth, families and
those in the enforcement field. The courses are designed for drug education
coordinators, probation/parole officers, counselors, teachers, nurses, PTA
officials, medical personnel, social workers, youth serving agencies and
drug free businesses.
The DFD will focus on educating school personnel to include
school nurses, counselors and teachers. Additionally, the DFD will support
drug free businesses
by educating management through half-day conferences.
The Dallas Field
Division will actively participate with the Texas Department of Public
Safety on the initiation and implementation
of a statewide demand
reduction program. DFD will continue to “train the trainers” with
the Collateral Demand Reduction Coordinator’s training.
Participation of the field division in Red Ribbon activities
was at an all time high in FY2003 and will continue in FY2004.
