North Salt Lake City Doctor Arrested
DEA Task Force Seizes Quantity of Ecstasy

APR 25 -- (Salt Lake City, UT) - The Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Salt Lake City Narcotics Task Force served a State of Utah search warrant on the home of Dr. Sherman Dale Hibbert in North Salt Lake City on April 24, 2008. Pursuant to the search, agents seized suspected ecstasy (MDMA), computers, and other evidentiary items from the home. Dr. Hibbert was arrested based on probable cause when he was found to have several suspected ecstasy tablets on his person and in his residence. Dr. Hibbert was subsequently taken to the Davis County Jail and booked on state drug charges. Dr. Hibbert is a pediatric dentist in Layton, Utah. In addition to state drug charges, Dr. Hibbert is facing the loss of his DEA registration which allows him to prescribe and possess controlled substances. The investigation was initiated based on a complaint from an acquaintance of Dr. Hibbert.

Jeffrey D. Sweetin, Special Agent in Charge of DEA’s Rocky Mountain Field Division stated, “No one is above the law when it comes to distributing illegal narcotics, especially a person we trust with the care of our children.”

Arrested: Sherman Dale Hibbert, 45, Layton, Utah.
