Jefferson County Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Cocaine Charges
– Marshall Pence admits attempting to buy two kilograms of cocaine

JAN 23 -- (Louisville, KY) - Marshall Pence, age 38, of 10313 Arbor Oak Street, Louisville, Kentucky, in Jefferson County, pled guilty on January 22, 2008, to attempting to possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

Pence admitted that on June 22, 2006, he took possession of what he believed was two kilograms of cocaine from a confidential informant who was working with agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration. He had arranged to buy the cocaine from the informant on credit for $37,000.

The maximum potential penalties are 40 years imprisonment, a $2,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of 4 years; and the minimum potential penalty is 5 years imprisonment.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr., and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The plea was entered before Jennifer B. Coffman, Judge, United States District Court, Louisville, Kentucky.

Pence is scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Coffman on April 21, 2008, at 1:30 p.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
