Marshall County Man Sentenced to 3 Years
228 Plants Found with a Street Value of $456,000

JAN 28 -- PADUCAH, KY - David R. Taylor, a/k/a David Boddy and David Boody, age 33, of 2368 Sysomia, Benton, Kentucky in Marshall County, was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment before Thomas B. Russell, Judge, United States District Court, Paducah, Kentucky, for conspiracy and aiding and abetting in the manufacture of marijuana plants, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today. Thomas B. Russell, Judge, United States District Court, also sentenced Taylor to 4 years supervised release following incarceration. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

Taylor had plead guilty on March 14, 2007 to conspiracy and aiding and abetting in the manufacture of marijuana plants. On March 21, 2006, after receiving a tip about a marijuana grow operation, officers of the Kentucky State Police identified a marijuana grow operation in Calloway County constituting of 228 marijuana plants. A path led from the marijuana grow site to the property of co-defendant Glen Rizzie. Taylor admitted that the plants belonged to, and were cultivated by, Rizzie and Taylor, who had agreed with Rizzie to work together to grow marijuana at this site. After processing, it is estimated the marijuana from the plants would have a street value of $456,000.

Rizzie is a fugitive and the charges are pending against him in U.S. District Court.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Madison Sewell and Michele Thielhorn and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Kentucky State Police.
