Louisville Drug Dealer Sentenced To 5 Years On Methamphetamine Charges

FEB 7 -- (Louisville, KY) - David Harold Settles, Jr., age 36, of 4727 Ferrer Way, Louisville, Kentucky, in Jefferson County, was sentenced on February 6, 2008, to 5 years for possession with the intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today. Charles R. Simpson III, Judge, United States District Court, also sentenced Settles to 4 years supervised release following incarceration. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

Settles pled guilty on October 11, 2007, and admitted that on July 11, 2006, in Washington County, he sold approximately two ounces of methamphetamine to a DEA Confidential Informant in exchange for $3,000. The drug deal took place at David Settles residence located in Springfield, Kentucky. Lab results revealed that the quantity of methamphetamine sold by Settles was 55.2 grams, which had a street value of $5,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel P. Kinnicutt, and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Springfield Police Department.
