Breckinridge County Man Indicted On Federal Methamphetamine Charges
- Freddie Stalkup alleged to have distributed and possessed $20,000 worth of meth

MAR 19 -- (Louisville, KY) - A federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment against Freddie Lee Stalkup, age 67, of 8384 E. Highway 86, Custer, Kentucky, in Breckinridge County, on charges of distribution of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

The Indictment alleges that Stalkup distributed more than 50 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine on January 31, 2008, and again on February 12, 2008. The Indictment also charges that on February 19, 2008, he possessed more than 50 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine with the intent of distributing it. These illegal drugs had a street value of more than $20,000.

In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are life imprisonment, a $1,200,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of not less than 4 years and up to his entire life. The minimum period of imprisonment required by statute is at least 5 years.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr., and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Stalkup is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on April 22, 2008, at 9:30 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
