Illegal Alien Sentenced to 8 Years for Drug Trafficking

MAY 27 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - Emilio Villegas-Martinez, age 27, of 101 South Stillwell Road, Boston, Kentucky, in Nelson County, was sentenced to 8 years and 1 month imprisonment in United States District Court, Louisville, Kentucky, on federal drug trafficking charges for distribution of cocaine and methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today. Villegas-Martinez was also sentenced to 3 years supervised release following incarceration, and fined $500.00. There is no parole in the federal judicial system. Villegas-Martinez is an illegal alien and is subject to deportation after serving his sentence.

U.S. Attorney Huber praised the work of the Hardin County Drug Task Force saying “That good things happen when good local police work is combined with the DEA”.

Villegas-Martinez plead guilty on December 19, 2007, to selling ounce-size quantities of cocaine. On April 5, 2007, The Hardin County Drug Task Force (HCDTF) obtained a search warrant on Villegas-Martinez’s residence. During the search of Villegas-Martinez’s residence, the HCDTF found 690.4 gross grams of methamphetamine and 612 gross grams of cocaine. Street value of the drugs is estimated to be $50,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel P. Kinnicutt, and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hardin County Drug Task Force.
