Louisville Drug Dealer Sentenced to 5 Years and 10 Months for Conspiracy to Distribute $39,000 of Meth

NOV 27 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - JASON W. SWEET, age 29, of 4010 Stone Landing Court, in Louisville, Kentucky, Jefferson County, was sentenced to 5 years and 10 months imprisonment in United States District Court, Louisville, Kentucky, for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today. Charles R. Simpson, III, Judge, United States District Court, also sentenced Sweet to 4 years supervised release following incarceration. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

Sweet pled guilty and admitted that between December 2006 and February 2, 2007, in Jefferson County, Kentucky, he conspired with William F. Dolt, IV, and with other persons to distribute and to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. Investigation began when a suspicious package was opened at the airport after a state search warrant was obtained following a drug dog alert, and 388 grams of a meth mixture, worth approximately $39,000 on the street, was found concealed inside. Upon controlled delivery to the address on the package, a vacant apartment, Dolt and Sweet were arrestedwhen Sweet accepted delivery.

Dolt, a co-defendant in this case, pled guilty to the same charge, and was sentenced to 4 years and 5 months on October 22, 2007, in Louisville, Kentucky.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Larry Fentress, and it was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Louisville Metro Police Department.
