DEA New Jersey Division Hosts State-Wide Pharmaceutical Diversion Investigative Training Seminar “Medicine for Success”

JUN 12 -- (New Brunswick, NJ) - Gerard P. McAleer, Special Agent in Charge, of the Drug Enforcement Administration New Jersey Division delivered the opening remarks to 115 sworn law enforcement personnel throughout the state. This Three Day Pharmaceutical Diversion Investigative Training course was held at Rutgers University, Cook Campus. This training is designed to provide New Jersey’s law enforcement community with the ability to combat the ever growing pharmaceutical drug abuse problem at the state and local levels. This training initiative is a part of the DEA New Jersey Division’s “Medicine for Success” program.

McAleer stated “DEA New Jersey Division is committed to providing our law enforcement partners the necessary tools in order to conduct these specialized investigations. This training gives our officers the knowledge and ability that will enhance their overall investigative skills.”

The training courses included topics such as “ ‘Pharming’ in the Garden State”, Methods of Diversion, Pain Management, and Records Analysis. Some of the instructors are experts in the fields of medicine, psychology, and legal professions.
