Release [print-friendly version] 23 Arrests and Drug Network Dismantled MAY 12 -- (Middletown, NY) As a result of a joint effort through multiple police agencies “Operation Intercept” resulted in the arrests and dismantlement of a drug trafficking organization in Sullivan County, NY. DEA Special Agent in Charge stated, “Operation Intercept not only identified the major dealers and users in Orange and Sullivan County it also led to the arrest of the source of supply in New York City. These arrests exemplify law enforcement’s commitment to weeding out drug traffickers and bringing them to justice.” This investigation initiated by identifying an individual named Adam D. Bloom, DOB 09/04/82 who was a major distributor of cocaine and marijuana within Sullivan County. In January, 2007 a cohesive effort between the Drug Enforcement Task Force Group T-31 (which is comprised of agents and officers of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the New York State Police and the New York Police Department), the New York State Police BCI in Liberty, the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office, the Monticello Police Department and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office was initiated in order to not only identify major dealers and users but to identify who was supplying this area with illegal narcotics. By the use of sophisticated law enforcement techniques and technologies this drug distribution network was infiltrated. It was learned that cocaine and marijuana were being distributed in several communities in Sullivan and Orange Counties. In addition, the cocaine source of supply was apprehended in New York City. It was estimated that this network distributed approximately 1 Kilogram of cocaine a week amounting to a street value of approximately $1.5 million dollars annually. To date there have been 23 individuals arrested with additional arrests expected as the investigation continues. |
