Release [print-friendly version] Federal Law Enforcement Foundation Honors Special Agent Dan Dyer
Special Agent Dan Dyer of the New York Field Division received the Investigator of the Year Award for his unwavering dedication while investigating the drug trafficking operations of key members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). A two year investigation that started with little information, evolved into one of the largest comprehensive assaults against the leaders of the FARC. Starting in March, 2004 through March 2006 Special Agent Dan Dyer from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Strike Force (OCDESF), compiled enough evidence to indict 60 FARC leaders of which 6 have been extradited and three are pending extradition. Honored Guests included keynote speaker Secretary Michael Chertoff, Department of Homeland Security, National Service Award Recipient Congressman Thomas M. Reynolds, International Friendship Award Recipient Ambassador Dan Gillerman, Israel Ambassador to the United Nations, Community Service Award Recipients Hon. Richard A. Brown, Hon. Terrance P. Glynn, Hon. Daniel M. Donovan, Hon. Michael J. Garcia, Hon. Charles J. Hynes, Hon. Robert T. Johnson and Hon. Robert M. Morgenthau. |
On October 27, 2006 the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation (FLEF) held its annual awards luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. The FLEF was founded in 1988 by Anthony Bergamo, Vice Chairman MB Real Estate and a group of concerned business leaders who recognized that, despite the incalculable contribution law enforcement agents make to our quality of life, the economic protection they receive is often inadequate in the face of disaster. Financial assistance is extended to all federal and local law enforcement agencies. Programs funded by the FLEF exist in over 200 communities and 9 foreign countries.
