Armed Narcotic Traffickers Arrested

MAY 19 -- SEATTLE – Pursuant to an ATF lead joint investigation, five people have been arrested today for Federal firearm and narcotic related charges; it is anticipated that more arrests will follow, announced Special Agent in Charge Kelvin N. Crenshaw, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

This 18-month investigation addresses Federal firearms violations, and narcotic distributors who use firearms in relation to their criminal activities. "We have seized/purchased approximately 30 firearms to date; these are crime guns being used to further violent acts, said Crenshaw. With consistent enforcement efforts, we are confident that we can make a real difference in the quality of life for those in our community."

Special Agent in Charge Rodney Benson with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) stated "the combination of drugs and guns has always created a dangerous situation for the people living in our communities and for the law enforcement officers working to ensure the public's safety. Methamphetamine is one of the most frightening drugs we have ever encountered because it is highly addictive, easily accessible, and appeals to a large cross-section of society. The mixture of methamphetamine and weapons is a deadly combination, which the DEA and ATF recognize as a threat to this region, and those groups and individuals involved in this type of drug business will be targeted."

This was a joint investigation between ATF, Drug Enforcement Administration, King County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Department of Corrections, and the U.S. Marshals Service sponsored Pacific Northwest Fugitive Task Force.

All persons are presumed innocent until convicted by court of law.
