In 1999, the U.S. Marshals Service (New Orleans) - Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force was created and implemented to assist the community in combating violent crime. The primary focus of the task force is to locate and arrest fugitives wanted for violent felony charges.  

Since its inception, over one thousand felony arrest warrants have been cleared.  Last year alone, over 500 arrests were made, including: USMS Major Cases (2), Homicide (21), Narcotics (40), Assault (59), Robbery (18) Weapons Offense (13), Sex Offense (11), Burglary (11), Theft (78) and Probation (123).
