  • July 14, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Aaron Sherrod in the Atlanta suburb of Rex, GA, where he was hiding from Ohio law enforcement. Sherrod was wanted by the Youngstown Police Department for his involvement in the November 18, 2007, shooting death of James Dow on Youngstown’s north side.
  • July 14, 2008 - The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Terry Davy on Mt. Auburn Avenue in Cleveland, OH. Davy was wanted for escape from the Harbor Light half-way house by the State of Ohio and also for violation of his federal supervised release. Davy was serving time for convictions of felonious assault, weapons charges and drug charges.
  • July 10, 2008 - Peter J. Elliott, United States Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, and Police Chief Michael T. Matulavich, Akron Police Department, announce the arrest of America’s Most Wanted (AMW) Fugitive Thomas Lollis. Lollis was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force (GCVOFTF), with assistance from the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff’s Department in Houston, TX. Lollis is charged with the shooting death of a 29 year old black male that occurred in Akron, OH on the 5th of July, 2007.
  • May 14, 2008 - On May 7, 2008 an arrest warrant was issued for Hakim Crymes by the East Cleveland Police Department charging him with the murder of Larry Powell.  On May 10, 2008 Deputy Marshals assigned to the NOVFT taskforce reached out to the U.S. Marshals in Las Vegas, and notified them of the specifics surrounding the case and information relating to the description of the two individuals as well as the vehicle they were believed to be driving. Last Night, the NOVFT taskforce was notified that the vehicle Crymes and his girlfriend were believed to be traveling in was located at a motel in the Las Vegas area. Approximately 1 hour later another call was received stating that Crymes was in custody and apprehended without incident.
  • October 01, 2007 - On Saturday, September 29, 2007 a powerful new initiative took place at the Boy’s and Girls Club of Cleveland, Mount Pleasant Facility.  Operation 2nd Chance was a pilot program based upon the idea of United States Marshal Peter J. Elliott. Marshal Elliott worked with a collaboration of community partners to identify youths in Cleveland’s Ward 4 who were having behavior problems that may be a result of learning disorders. The program identified specific families in Ward 4 who had outstanding truancy and curfew warrants.
  • July 14, 2007 - The House of the Lord Church in Akron, OH opened its doors for four days to 1,120 fugitives: one of the largest surrender totals recorded in the program’s three year history. Fugitive Safe Surrender encourages persons wanted for felony or misdemeanor crimes to voluntarily surrender to the law in a faith-based location. The House of the Lord church opened its doors at 9:00 AM Wednesday, July 11 and had fugitives eagerly waiting outside the doors for their first step at a second chance. On the last day, over 600 individuals surrendered.
  • April 09, 2007 - Two local United States Marshals Service employees will receive national recognition during the U.S. Marshals Service Director’s Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on April 11, 2007. Assistant Chief Cathy Jones will be awarded the “Leadership Beyond the Standard Award” and Chief David Harlow will be awarded the “Distinguished Group Award”. The awards are two of the highest awards to be received within the United States Marshals Service.
  • March 28, 2007 - Peter J. Elliott, the United States Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, has been named a “Top Cop” of the nation by the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO). Marshal Elliott was selected for this prestigious award after being nominated by the Ohio Patrolman’s Benevolent Association and its President Terry Gallagher. The Top Cop Awards pay tribute to the men and women in law enforcement for their outstanding service to America’s communities.
  • October 31, 2006 - Fugitive Thomas Gilbert Longo was apprehended by Mexican Immigration Authorities and Deputy U.S. Marshals in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on October 30, 2006, after 11 months on the run. Longo, who was profiled on America’s Most Wanted on July 18, 2006, obtained fugitive status almost one year ago when he failed to appear for a hearing.
  • October 17, 2006 - David Wesley of the Cleveland Cavaliers speaks to students of the Gang Resistance Education and Training Program (G.R.E.A.T.) spearheaded by the U.S. Marshals Service in Cleveland, OH. Deputy U.S. Marshals and partnering G.R.E.A.T. police officers from Chagrin Falls, Cleveland, East Cleveland, Parma, and Warrensville Heights teamed up with CAVS players and coaches to reinforce the anti-gang message to “Say no to violence."
  • October 15, 2006 - On the evening of October 12, 2006, Richard Wesley Gibbs’ run from justice ended as U.S. Marshals, working through Panamanian authorities, apprehended Gibbs at the Big Bamboo Bar and Grill in Bocas Del Toro, Panama, after a 90-day manhunt that spanned seven states.
