ABSTRACT: This system contains records on USMS protectees who have been directly threatened or are subject to violent threat and consists of identifying data and other personal information, district, information on the type and source of threat, how the threat was made, and the expenditure of funds and allocation of resources.

PURPOSE: This system is used to identify security risks and to develop operating plans and carry out security measures to counteract threat situations.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: Records are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards include restricting access to those with a need-to-know to perform their official duties, using locks and alarm devices, passwords and/or encrypting data communications.

USE CONSTRAINTS: Users are restricted to only those privileges necessary to perform assigned tasks.

AGENCY PROGRAM: The Judicial Protection Information system supports the USMS in the administration and implementation of courtroom security requirements for the Federal judiciary, and in the protection of Federal jurists, court officers, and other threatened persons in the interests of justice where criminal intimidation impedes the functioning of the Federal judicial process.

SOURCES OF DATA: Information in this system is obtained from the individual protectee. Where information is maintained in this system on an identified threat source to a particular protectee, such information is obtained from public and confidential sources and from Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies but is not retrievable by name or other particular assigned to the threat source.
