This report is a comprehensive, strategic assessment of the threat posed to Native American communities by drug trafficking organizations (DTOs), criminal groups, and gangs and the illicit drugs they distribute on reservations throughout the United States. This report examines the operations, capabilities, and vulnerabilities of drug traffickers who exploit Indian Country and the difficulties faced by federal, state, and tribal law enforcement officials in combating drug trafficking in Native American communities. NDIC is now advertising for Intelligence Research Specialists (IRSs), GS-0132-7/9. IRSs assigned to the Intelligence Analysis Section at NDIC produce or assist in the production of strategic intelligence reports that support law enforcement and Intelligence Community decisionmakers with the formation of counterdrug policies, the development of strategic plans, and the allocation of counterdrug resources. IRSs assigned to the Information Collection Section use a unique software application to provide real-time intelligence support through the identification of assets, bank accounts, and coconspirators for high-level national and international investigations targeting illicit drug trafficking, money laundering, terrorist activities, and other investigations that impact national security. IRSs may be assigned to either section at the discretion of NDIC management based on operational needs. See our vacancy announcement #276-ND-08 for more information.

RAID training now available

The Real-time Analytical Intelligence Database (RAID) is a National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC)-designed tool used in support of criminal prosecution. It is also used by several law enforcement agencies for organizing and sharing case information. The software helps analysts catalog and analyze valuable information collected from seized evidence or law enforcement intelligence.

In this 5-day course, users will be trained on the RAID software so that evidentiary and investigatory information can be effectively retrieved to assist organizations with their investigations. No prior experience with RAID 3 or any previous versions of RAID are needed.

The course is open to law enforcement personnel, and personnel in the intelligence and investigative fields.

For more information, see our RAID Training page.
