National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) Employees Pledge More than $56,000 to Local and National Charities

Johnstown, PA - Employees of the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC), a component agency of the U.S. Department of Justice, located in Johnstown have donated $56,328 to local and national charities as part of the federal government's annual Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). This is the largest amount contributed to the charitable campaign by NDIC employees in the agency's 14-year history. A significant portion of this year's proceeds is once again projected to be donated to the local United Way of the Laurel Highlands.

"NDIC employees have responded generously this year and exceeded the agency's goal of $53,000," CFC Chairman Rich Nagy said. "In addition to soliciting the typical pledges, we supplemented our activities with other motivating events including dress down days, bake sales, and the first Managers-vs.-Staff Basketball Extravaganza." These events kept awareness elevated throughout the campaign which ran from October 4, 2006 through January 4, 2007. "All of the money raised through supplemental events is earmarked for the United Way of the Laurel Highlands in Johnstown," Nagy explained.

"I am impressed by the generosity of and community spirit of the NDIC employees. They show the strength of their good will and character every day and the CFC campaign is one more way they contribute to the world around them," said Acting Director Irene Hernandez.

The CFC is the only authorized solicitation of employees in the Federal workplace on behalf of charitable organizations. Each year Federal employees and military personnel raise millions of dollars through the CFC that benefits thousands of non-profit charities.
