Welcome to the National Security Division. Created by the reauthorization of the USA PATRIOT Act in March 2006, the Division merges the primary national security elements of the Department of Justice, fulfilling a key recommendation of the March 2005 report of the Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD Commission). The Division consists of the Counterterrorism and Counterespionage Sections; the Office of Intelligence Policy and Review; and a new Law and Policy Office.
