BILL LANN LEE PARTICIPATE IN CELEBRATION
OF ADA 10 TH ANNIVERSARY


WASHINGTON, D.C. - Acting Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Bill Lann Lee, will participate in Alabama's Spirit of ADA Torch Relay Celebration on Saturday, July 15, 2000. (A)AAG Lee will deliver remarks at 12:15 p.m. at the ceremony to be held on the steps of the State Capitol in Montgomery, Alabama. The ceremony, which begins at 11:30 a.m. will be held at the conclusion of Alabama's Torch Relay, which celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the ADA.

Enacted on July 26, 1990, the ADA is a landmark civil rights law that guarantees equal opportunity for the nation's 54 million people with disabilities. Disability rights organizations, businesses and governments are planning a wide range of commemorative events at both the national and local level to celebrate the tenth anniversary.
