DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO SPONSOR COMMUNITY FORUM ON POST
SEPTEMBER 11 DISCRIMINATORY BACKLASH IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA


WASHINGTON, D.C. - - The U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division will sponsor a community forum in Arlington, Virginia on January 16, 2002, as part of the Civil Rights Division's ongoing efforts to conduct outreach to Arab, Muslim, South Asian, and Sikh Americans, as well as others targeted by post-September 11th discriminatory backlash.

The forum will bring together officials from various agencies within the U.S. government who will discuss how individuals can file complaints and provide the public with information about steps the Department of Justice has taken to respond and address complaints of backlash discrimination.

WHEN: Wednesday, January 16, 2002

7:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Doors Open at 6:30 PM)

WHERE: George Mason University Law School (Room 329)

3401 North Fairfax Drive

Arlington, VA

Participants will include representatives from the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division and Community Relations Service, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the U.S. Departments of Education and Transportation. The program will include presentations by the participants, followed by a question and answer session. Complaint forms and other relevant materials in different languages will also be available.
