MARK CORALLO NAMED JUSTICE DEPARTMENT
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS


WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Attorney General John Ashcroft announced today that Mark Corallo has been appointed the Director of Public Affairs.

“Mark is a gifted communicator who has worked tirelessly to ensure that the press corps and the American people receive complete and accurate information about the ways the Justice Department is preserving lives and liberties,” said Attorney General John Ashcroft. “Mark possesses a strong command of the issues and an unwavering commitment to our nation's highest standards of public service. I know he will lead our public affairs office with distinction.”

Corallo has served as the Principal Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the Justice Department since March 2002 and operated as the Department’s press secretary on all major news issues. Prior to serving at the Department, Corallo worked as Communications Director of the House Government Reform Committee from 1999 to 2002. He served as Press Secretary for U.S. Rep Bob Livingston from 1997 to 1999.

Corallo is a graduate of Georgetown University, and served as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army from 1993 to 1996.
