ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR CIVIL RIGHTS R. ALEXANDER ACOSTA TO SPEAK AT LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY CONFERENCE


WASHINGTON, D.C. - In order to allow local reporters to make travel arrangements, this media advisory is being distributed in advance:

Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights R. Alexander Acosta will speak at a national day-long Department of Justice sponsored conference showcasing innovative strategies used by federal, state, and local agencies as well as community groups when providing language services to limited English proficient (LEP) individuals. Mr. Acosta will present a soon-to-be-published document, which will be distributed nationwide, describing tips and tools in providing LEP individuals language access. A new Department of Justice video regarding civil rights and language access will also be unveiled. Reporters who are interested in attending the conference should contact Eric Holland at the Office of Public Affairs.
