ABSTRACT: The Case Tracking System (CTS) of the Office of the Solicitor General allows office personnel to input and retrieve information pertaining to the past, pending and future filings in Supreme Court cases in which the Federal Government is, or may be, an interested party. This data includes, but is not limited to: case name, division or agency assigned to the case, docket number, petition service date, court due date, lower court docket number, due dates for motions and correspondence received by the Solicitor General, orders issued by the Supreme Court, name, address and phone numbers of opposing and amici counsel, Deputy Solicitor General and attorney assigned to the case.

PURPOSE: The principle purpose of the Case Tracking System (CTS) of the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) is to record and track the history of cases before the Supreme Court and to track actions on appeal recommendations.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: The CTS database is housed on a server that is maintained and administered by the Justice Management Division. All records in CTS are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards include restricting access to OSG personnel with proper id and password.

USE CONSTRAINTS: Users of the CTS are restricted to only those privileges necessary to perform assigned tasks.

AGENCY PROGRAM: The Office of the Solicitor General represents the Federal Government in matters before the Supreme Court of the United States. It is charged with arguing before the Supreme Court, the Government's view in a particular matter. CTS is one of the tools utilized to accomplish this mission.

SOURCES OF DATA: The majority of the information contained in the CTS is provided by the Supreme Court, Opposing Counsel and other divisions in the Department of Justice.
