DEFENDANTS PLEAD GUILTY TO CONSPIRACY TO PREPARE FALSE INCOME TAX RETURNS

(Brownsville, Texas) United States Attorney Michael T. Shelby announced today that Francisco and Gustavo Ledesma, plead guilty before the United States District Court to conspiracy to assist in the preparation of false income tax returns, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 371.
The range of punishment for the count of conviction includes a maximum sentence of 5 years, a fine of up to $250,000, and a period of supervised release of not more than 3 years.
Following a pre-sentence investigation, the two are scheduled to be sentenced on December 9, 2003 before Federal District Judge Andrew S. Hanen in Brownsville, Texas.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys David Peck and Dan Marposan.
