St. Paul, MN - Michael F. Marsh, the former owner
of Marsh Optical was sentenced Wednesday, November 5, 2003 in United States
District Court to failing to file federal personal income tax returns for
four consecutive years.
Marsh, age 50, was sentenced to one year and one day of imprisonment
by U.S. Magistrate Judge Janie Mayeron in St. Paul.
Marsh admitted during his guilty plea hearing in August 2003 that for
calendar years 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 he failed to file a federal income
tax return. His total income for those years was $401,371, resulting in
a tax loss of approximately $141,559.
The case is the result of an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal
Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank
Magill.
