On July 27, 2007, Chief US District Judge Edward W. Nottingham sentenced Joseph P. Nacchio to serve 72 months (6 years) in federal prison. Nacchio was also ordered to pay a $19 million fine, as well as a $1,900 special court assessment. Following his 6 years in prison, the defendant was ordered to spend 2 years on Supervised Release. Immediately prior to the sentencing Chief Judge Nottingham also ordered that Nacchio forfeit over $52 million, to be paid to the victims of his crime.
