Nuisance Property Abatement Success Story

3412 10th Place, S.E.
(PSA 705) (Ward 8)

This apartment building was the site of numerous drug arrests primarily resulting from drugs being sold out of one of the apartments on the first floor. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) executed three separate search warrants on this property, and drugs, weapons, or both were recovered on each occasion. The Community Prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office contacted the owner regarding this activity, the problem tenant was removed, and the apartment from which drugs were being sold was boarded up.

The apartment building has recently been sold to a developer who is in the process of extensively renovating it. This former nuisance property along with a number of adjacent buildings in the neighborhood will be customized residences for senior citizens. This drug free property will provide a safe home for the people who reside there.
