TITLE:
Security Clearance Forms for Grand Jury Reports
ACRONYM:
None
ORIGINATOR
ABSTRACT:
This system of records permits the USAOs and EOUSA to compile, maintain and track
information relating to the security clearance status of the individual grand jury
reporters employed by the reporting firm under contract with the Justice Department.
PURPOSE
This system was established and is maintained to request and track those court
reporters with the clearance required to transcribe events occurring before a Federal
Grand Jury. The system allows prosecutors and Administrative Officers to efficiently
complete the daily task of beginning the prosecutorial phase of crimes through the
proceedings of a grand jury.
ACCESS CONSTRAINTS:
The security clearance forms are maintained in the Administrative Division in the
District Court building in an office which is staffed by office personnel during working
hours and locked at all times thereafter.
AGENCY PROGRAM:
The USAOs are charged with the enforcement of United States law both civil and
criminal in conjunction with the Department of Justice. Compilation and maintenance of
the status of security clearances of court reporters permitted to transcribe matters
occurring before a Federal grand jury promotes the efficient prosecution of criminal
matters.
SOURCES OF DATA:
The source of the information contained in these files are the reporter's request for
security clearance personnel information sheet and the clearance or denial of the
clearance.
