SEX OFFENDER ENTERS A GUILTY PLEA
United States Attorney Maxwell Wood, Middle District of Georgia, announced that on January 26, 2007 SAMUEL COLE voluntarily entered a plea of guilty to Interstate Transportation of a Minor for Purposes of Engaging in Sexual Conduct in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2423(a), in connection with 2426(a) and 3559(e).
COLE was previously convicted of Aggravated Child Molestation in Mitchell County Superior Court in 1987 and was sentenced to serve seven (7) years imprisonment. Based on that prior conviction, COLE is subject to a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, a maximum fine of $250,000.00 and a mandatory assessment fee of $100.00. Sentencing will be scheduled by the Court.
The case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Thomasville Office . The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Jim Crane.
