Defendant Sentenced To Forfeit Over $900,000 In Drug Conspiracy
DES MOINES, IA - On January 24, 2008, Dale Moncrieffe, 43, of Pennsylvania, was sentenced to175 months incarceration for his part in a conspiracy to distribute 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. Along with the incarceration, Moncrieffe was also ordered to pay $100 to the Crime Victim Fund, to serve ten years supervised release after his incarceration, and the forfeiture of over $900,000 in U.S. currency, by Chief Judge, Robert W. Pratt.
During a traffic stop, Iowa State Patrol Officers discovered a suitcase containing over $900,000 in U. S. currency in a semi-tractor trailer where Moncrieffe was identified as a passenger. Moncrieffe was indicted on February 13, 2007, in a two-count indictment for his role in the conspiracy to distribute more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana. Moncrieffe plead guilty to the conspiracy charge on August 21, 2007, and agreed to the forfeiture of over $900,000.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Iowa State Patrol.
