Marshalltown Man Sentenced On Drug And Firearm Charges
DES MOINES, IA - On January 31, 2008, Jeremy Dean Lavender, age 22, of Marshalltown, Iowa, was sentenced to a term of 51 months imprisonment for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver and 60 months for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, for a total sentence of 111 months, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Judge James Gritzner also ordered Lavender to serve a three year term of supervised release, and imposed a crime victim fund assessment of $200.00.
On September 10, 2008, Lavender entered a plea of guilty to the drug and firearm charges. At the time of his plea, Lavender stipulated that on December 6, 2006 he possessed methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it to another persona and possessed a loaded shotgun in furtherance of that drug trafficking crime.
This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This case was investigated by the Mid-Iowa narcotics Enforcement Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
