Clinton Man Sentenced On Child Pornography Charges

DAVENPORT - On April 18, 2008, John William Gool, Jr., age 51, of Clinton, Iowa, was sentenced to a term of 220 months imprisonment for receipt of child pornography, and 120 months imprisonment for possession of child pornography, the sentences to run concurrently, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Judge John Jarvey also ordered Gool to serve a ten-year term of supervised release following imprisonment, pay $200 to the Crime Victim Fund, and forfeit his computer equipment and contraband images.


Pursuant to his April 24, 2007, plea of guilty, Gool was convicted of receiving child pornography between July 2000 and June 1, 2006, and possessing child pornography on June 1, 2006.


This prosecution was handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa. The investigation was conducted by the Clinton Police Department.
