Iowa City Man Sentenced to 180 months Imprisonment for Distribution of Crack Cocaine

Davenport, IA - On April 28, 2008, Joseph George Harris, 38, was sentenced to 180 months imprisonment, having previously pled to one count of distribution of crack cocaine, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered Harris to serve three years on supervised release following imprisonment, and to pay an assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.


On July 9, 2003, August 11, 2003, August 27, 2003, and July 29, 2004, Harris sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant.


This case was investigated by the Iowa City Police Department, Coralville Police Department, Johnson County Drug Task Force, Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, the Iowa Department of Public Safety, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa prosecuted the case.
